If you are a woman, and there is still a little girl
living inside you, who just loves everything pink, then I would love to share
this story with you. I will show you exactly which shade of pink would suit you
best, so that you can look beautiful at any age.
Pink can be many things. Some people love it, some
people hate it. Strong emotions are often attached to good old pink.
Pink can be many shades and intensities. |
Pink can be baby pink, it can be shocking pink or icy pink
and everything in between. For years, shocking pink was not even a color that was
among the colors that we saw in everyday life. I remember, 30 years ago, before
I started my journey as a color expert, when I was actually looking for the color, because shocking
pink is a color that emphasizes my own colors. You didn´t see strong pinks
daily, like you do today. The color was not on anybody´s radar, which seems odd
at the moment, because young people everywhere wear it in all things. It is a
color that can be seen in lipsticks, sports clothing, evening wear, daytime
wear and in absolutely everything.
Pink is more of a 21st century color, just
like everything else, which is extreme. Everything today is more, bigger,
better, worse, loud, screaming, longer, shorter, shocking pink! Where-ever you
look, something is “screaming” at you.
Pink became a popular color for girls after the 1940s,
when retailers and manufacturers began to follow consumers´ shopping habits.
Pink has been considered a symbol of girl power, and it became a marketing
gimmick.
According to color psychology, pink makes us feel
joyful, creative and feminine. It is no wonder women of all ages want to wear
it.
I can´t help but think that all this screaming on all
levels, even in colors, is driving the world mad. It certainly has an effect on
me, and I am a person, just like everyone else. It must have more effect on us
that we can imagine. One thing this day and age will certainly be looked back
on is that everything was LARGE.
To get back to pink. Talking about dominant color
characteristics, we can take any color and adjust it to enhance any dominant
color characteristic. The dominant color
characteristics are:
LIGHT
DEEP
SOFT
CLEAR
WARM
COOL
The dominant color characteristic is very visible and
you can learn to find out what is what when you practice a little.

Riin has that special glow when she uses icy pink combined with a stronger color. |
If you are a person with LIGHT coloring, pink as in “baby
pink” would look wonderful on you.
If you are a person with DEEP coloring, your
best pink is not the “baby pink”. Depending on whether your own deep colors
need to be with a cool undertone or a warm undertone, you would either go for
the icy pink or a pink with just a bit of yellowish in it. More like a salmon
pink.
If you are a person with SOFT coloring, your pink
would also be the “baby pink” or a salmonish pink, but both with a softness to
it.
If you are a person with CLEAR coloring, you would do
well with a striking pink or a very light pink combined with something to give
it contrast, e.g. your best navy.
If you are a person with WARM coloring, you would do
well to stay away from the cool pinks in every shade and intensity. Your “pink” would be more of a salmon pink.
If you are a person with COOL coloring, many of the
pinks would look wonderful on you because pinks always have a cool undertone to
them.
All the above colors represent thousands of colors and
there is more than enough colors to choose from. We just have to think in a
different way to find the best colors for ME!
Do you know which one is your best dominant color
characteristic? You can find out HERE!"
