Color is Music and Music is Color

Vibrations and sound frequencies of light

Strange, but I feel that I have known it all these years. Only after listening to the presentation: Blueprints of Our Functionality by Luanne Oaks, PhD, it really hit me.

She says that people are made up of only two alchemical substances, which are vibrations and sound frequencies of light, which appear to be solid. We are made up of cell membranes, which are specific wavelengths of visible light.

We are beings of sound and light.

This explains many things to me. I know that colors are wavelengths, just like music. The stories that famous composers saw music as colors and that some of today´s musicians also see/hear colors in music, started to make sense.

People talk of how things resonate with them and other things don’t, like certain music and certain colors, depending on the person. We are used to talking about colors and music: “I like…” and “I don´t like”. Actually we should be saying a certain color does not resonate with my own wavelengths.

Colors are used very much to have fun with and that is great. Talking about colors, however, has been very superficial, and I feel that colors have not been given the same attention as music, for example. On a general level, colors are just something we like or don´t like and discard them at every turn and don´t really care this way or that. Many people don´t take colors seriously. Many don´t care about music either. So they are in the same boat. Perhaps the reason for that is that we can´t separate colors or music to be on their own without the extension that is required for them to exist.
In the same way that music picks up our mood, colors can do the same. I feel we really should be focusing much more on what colors we surround ourselves with, whether it is in clothes, make-up, interiors, cities, playgrounds and everything. There is a reason, why certain things in nature are a certain color.

Just think, it the sky was green, trees were blue and the oceans yellow. It would make anyone dizzy, I´m sure. Still, we don´t pay enough attention to what colors we are being exposed to and must tolerate, in our everyday lives. No wonder, people are not feeling good in their own skin!

Marketing is a huge industry and everyone wants to stand out with their own products. There is a reason for using glaring colors. They attract attention, but that is actually the same thing, as if loud, screaming music was played to us on a daily basis. I don´t think people would appreciate that. So, why are we using colors, which make us feel bad?
Actually, I think that we have come to the point in time that just the opposite will start to prevail. It will have to, because so many people seem to be lost on so many levels. We are being marinated in colors that don´t suit us and even though it cannot be felt in the same way and as quickly as sounds, music or noise, it is quietly making a statement in its own right. In the long run, we will all be feeling it, one way or another.
It is my belief, that this is the reason, why so many people want to live outside cities. Cities are not a “normal” environment for people to be exposed to at all times. I´m thinking that it must be so. It cannot be very healthy to be exposed to black, gray and bright lights at the same time. Yes, we do think it is entertaining, and it can be, but too much of entertaining is never the answer to wellbeing.

These are my thoughts after working and actively using, teaching and enjoying colors for more than 30 years. Once you get into the flow of colors, it becomes obvious and very simple. There really is a system that we can learn, so that we will be able to choose well every time we buy something with color. It is not difficult to find your own dominant color characteristic and the colors that have the same characteristic. You and everyone will be able to use all the colors as long as the shade and intensity matches our shade and intensity. That´s how simple it all is.

To start learning more about colors and what they can do for you, I have written a 24-page Professional Shopping Guide to get you started. You might think it is a bit far off from what I have written, but I assure you, that we need to start with basics and that is what I have focused on in the Guide. You can´t run before you can walk!
